Free with every orderA Hatch Scale, free in your boxA pocket egg scale with a weight-loss card. Weigh an egg on day 0, 7, 14 and 18: on the line, your humidity is right, and you know before the hatch is lost. Added to your cart for you. How it works
  • Out in the morning, in at night, on a timer. Set an opening time and a closing time on the LCD and the door runs itself every day. A button on the box opens or closes it by hand whenever you want.
  • Aluminium door, aluminium frame. The sliding door and the frame it runs in are anodised aluminium. A geared motor drives the door up and down a rack, and the maker tests that motor over 10,000 cycles.
  • Made to live outside. Rated IP45 and listed by the maker for rain, sun and snow, from 5 to 140 °F (−15 to 60 °C).
  • Screws onto the coop wall. Hold the frame over the doorway, drive the screws through the side rails, set the clock. The screws are in the box.

In the coop

The one job you do twice a day.

Someone has to let the hens out in the morning and shut them in before dark. Every day, in every season. The Coop Door does both at the times you set, so the doorway is closed at night whether you are home, away or asleep.

Set it once

Step 1

Screw it on

Hold the frame flat over the doorway on the coop wall and drive the screws through the side rails.

Step 2

Set the times

Set the clock, then an opening time and a closing time. The LCD shows all three.

It opens

At the opening time the door slides up and the flock lets itself out.

Every evening

It closes

At the closing time the door slides down. Set it for after your birds are normally on the roost.

All year

Out in the weather, every day.

The door lives on the outside of the coop. The maker rates it IP45 and lists it for rain, sun and snow, from 5 to 140 °F (−15 to 60 °C).

  • Solar panel with cable
  • Timer mode or light-sensor mode
  • Remote control
  • USB-C charging port

Questions

Good to know before you order.

Something we haven’t covered? Email contact@ovatekly.com and a real person answers, usually the same business day.

Will it fit my coop?
The frame is 9.6 in wide and 12.9 in tall (244 × 328 mm), and the control box on top is 2 in (50 mm) deep. The door slides straight up above the box when it opens, so leave about the same height again clear above the frame. It mounts flat on the wall with screws through the side rails. If you are unsure, email a photo of the doorway to contact@ovatekly.com.
Which birds is it for?
The maker shows it with chickens, ducks and a goose. The opening is a little narrower than the 9.6 in frame, so measure your biggest bird first.
What is the difference between the two versions?
Battery: runs on batteries and opens and closes on the timer. Solar + remote: charges from its own solar panel or by USB-C, runs on the timer or on a light sensor, comes with a remote control, and sounds an alarm if the door does not open or close normally.
Are batteries included?
The Battery version runs on three batteries that sit in the control box. The maker does not list them as included, so plan on buying them; email contact@ovatekly.com and we will confirm the type before you order.
What if a hen is in the doorway when it closes?
The maker does not list an obstruction sensor for this door. Set the closing time for after your birds are normally on the roost, and watch the first few evenings. The Solar + remote version sounds an alarm if the door does not close normally.
Does it work in winter?
The maker rates it from 5 to 140 °F (−15 to 60 °C). In hard frost, keep ice and packed snow out of the door track.
Do I need power in the coop?
No. The Battery version runs on batteries. The Solar + remote version charges from its own panel, or by USB-C.
Can I open it by hand?
Yes. A button on the control box opens or closes it at any time, and the Solar + remote version also has the remote.
How long does delivery take?
Shipping is free and tracked across the US, with an estimated delivery of 5 to 10 business days. You get a tracking number by email.
What if it is not right for us?
You have 30 days to return it, unused and in its original box. Full terms are in the refund policy.
